Buckingham United's First Team travelled to New City Saints only to find the pitch which would be more suited to swimming than it would football. The Referee at first agreed but after discussions with the Saint's manager, the game went ahead.
From the off the game became apparent that there was going to be little ball control as Colin Piggot went to clear the ball, only for the ball to stop in a puddle and result in him clattering the Saint's forward.
Later on in the game United's Martin Dearlove hit a fine shot that beat the keeper only for it to stop a yard before the line in another puddle. United also had a goal disallowed for an apparent offside which surprised most.
After Saint's scored the ball was sent back to the centre circle for the restart only to find the spot had been washed away by the torrential downpour that was coming down.
Before the game was eventually rightfully abandoned, the home side had netted four goals including an excellent strike from former United player Matt Berryman. United did net a reply by Sam Wood.
Next week United host New City Saints in the Cup back the club's Tingewick home.
